Sorrento

A terrace over the bay, and the Marina Piccola harbour where the Capri hydrofoils leave from. We drop you at the pier and pick you up there.

Sorrento sits on a terrace above the bay, and you see it on foot: the old streets, corso Italia, Piazza Tasso. We pick you up at your hotel at the hour you choose, and the car stays with you all day — how long you linger anywhere is decided as you go, not fixed the night before.

The town centre sits well above Marina Piccola, and the lift in the public gardens closes that gap: it links the centre to the harbour area and the beaches. Several sailings a day leave the port for Capri and for Naples. We drop you at the pier before boarding and we are back there whenever you tell us, even if you stay on the island until evening.

What you see

  • Marina Piccola harbour

Hydrofoils and ferries for Capri and for Naples leave from Marina Piccola, several times a day. We drop you at the pier in time to board, and we are waiting there when you come back, at the hour you name.

  • The centre on foot

Corso Italia, Piazza Tasso, the lanes of the old town. The town-centre traffic zone runs from April to October in the evening hours, and on public holidays in the morning too: we set you down outside the gates and the rest is a walk.

  • The public gardens lift

There is a real drop between the centre and the harbour. The lift in the public gardens joins the two levels and reaches the beaches as well: useful when the day includes a boat and nobody feels like stairs.

  • Capri and back in a day

Sorrento is one of the ports for Capri, with several sailings a day. You book the crossing yourself with the operator; we get you to the pier and collect you there at the hour you decide.

Getting there with us

  • Sorrento has a limited-traffic zone in the centre: from 1 April to 25 October, 19.30 to 04.00, and on public holidays from 10.00 to 13.00 as well. Four electronic gates read the plates.
  • We set you down outside the gates and the car waits there: the centre is walked, not driven.
  • For the island: we drop you at Marina Piccola before boarding and come back at whatever time you give us, in the morning or later in the day.

Worth knowing

  • Comfortable shoes: the centre is well above the harbour, and anyone skipping the public gardens lift takes the stairs.
  • From 1 August to 30 September 2026 the alternate-plate rule applies on the SS163 between Vietri sul Mare and Positano, 10.00 to 18.00. Taxis and private-hire cars are exempt, so if the day carries on along the coast we still get through.
  • Hydrofoil and ferry tickets are booked with the operators and stay on you: that way you pay the fare and not a booking fee on top.
  • The traffic zone shifts with the season and with public holidays: if the day ends with dinner in town, we agree the time and the meeting point before setting off.
