Capri
An island cars are not allowed to land on: you cross by hydrofoil, and the car waits at the pier until you are back.

Capri is reached by sea, and that sets the shape of the day. The car leaves your hotel at the agreed time and drops you at the embarkation pier: Molo Beverello in Naples, where the hydrofoils go from, or Marina Piccola in Sorrento. It is back at the pier for your return.
The car does not cross with you, and that is not a matter of preference. Decree no. 22 of 25 March 2026, signed by the President of the Campania Region, bans non-resident vehicles from landing and driving on the island from 30 March to 2 November 2026, and again from 28 December to 3 January. Mainland taxis and chauffeur-driven cars are not among the exemptions.

What you see
Marina Grande and the funicular
Hydrofoils dock at Marina Grande, the island’s only port. From there the funicular climbs to the Piazzetta in a few minutes and is the quickest way up; local buses and island taxis also run from the port.
Capri and Anacapri
The island is ten square kilometres and two towns. Capri has the Piazzetta and the shops; Anacapri sits higher up, and the chairlift to Monte Solaro leaves from there.
Monte Solaro
589 metres, the highest point on the island. The chairlift leaves from Piazza Vittoria in Anacapri and takes about a quarter of an hour; from the top you look across the Bay of Naples and the coast opposite.
The Blue Grotto
Reached by bus from Anacapri or by boat from the port. Entry depends on the sea: in adverse conditions the site stays closed, and there is no telling in advance. Between November and March opening is not guaranteed.

Getting there with us
- We stop at the embarkation pier: Molo Beverello in Naples for hydrofoils, Calata Porta di Massa for ferries, Marina Piccola in Sorrento. We do not board with you.
- The regional decree bans non-resident vehicles from arriving and driving on the island, and expressly bans rental vehicles from boarding. A mainland chauffeur car has no exemption — not even to run you from the island port to your hotel.
- On Capri you move with what the island has: funicular, buses, local taxis. For the return we are waiting at the pier, at the time you agreed.
Worth knowing
- The ban covers almost the whole season: 30 March to 2 November 2026, plus the days around New Year. Outside those dates the picture changes, and the decree is reissued each year.
- Hydrofoils leave from Molo Beverello and ferries from Calata Porta di Massa — two different parts of the port of Naples. The crossing ticket is bought separately.
- There is no private car option on the island: the funicular, buses and island taxis are what there is, and you walk between them.
- What is on offer here is the transport. Having the sites explained to you is the job of a licensed tourist guide, booked separately.
